That's what the banner read. I was on Temple University's campus recently and I noticed the banner hanging near the Peter Liacouras Center. I stopped in my tracks and just stared at it. I was moved. I write, talk and teach about this stuff all of the time but something felt different. Have you ever had a moment where you thought about your entire life in seconds? Well, that's what happened to me. If I was standing near the art museum steps (i.e., Rocky steps) I would have run up them - with my suit and shoes on and my briefcase in hand. It was almost as if the banner and I were having a one-on-one conversation. I felt like it was encouraging me to step up what I'm doing.
This journal, then, will serve as an invitation for you to join the Greatness Never Quits Club. Membership is free...well, not exactly. Our world is challenging us, as a country, to step up. We have a lot of work to do. Your profession is challenging you to step up. You have work to do. Your personal life is challenging you to step up. You have work to do. Rekindle your creative spirit and put on your innovation hat.Think cutting edge and creating "it's never been done before" moments. Resist the urge to be and do "more of the same." We are at a tipping point. Yes, Malcolm Gladwell's book applies nicely here. Let's individually take responsibility for making sure our tomorrows are days to celebrate not commiserate (those are your membership dues). There's greatness in us! There's greatness in you! Remember, Greatness Never Quits!
